Embryos?? Yes Please!!

August 11, 2018 by DanaeL 4 Comments

WE HAVE EMBRYOS PEOPLE!! This is not a drill!!! πŸ˜„πŸŽ‰πŸ™πŸΌπŸΎ

Every step of this process has been different and more intense than the first time around. This week of growing embryos has kept me on my toes for sure! After the egg retrieval, the mature eggs are quickly fertilized and the growing begins! πŸ₯š My doctor calls with updates daily, except for day 4 (we will get to that later) because you typically lose some every day so its important to know what’s going on. It keeps you in a strange state of calm knowing that things are progressing even if you hear the number getting smaller.

Here’s a quick recap of what we knew in my last postΒ β†’ They retrieved 34 eggs, 23 of them were mature, and all 23 fertilized with Cliffs special men. Yay! The next day (Day 2), 21 of them were still growing and in the running to become future little Cliff and Danae’s! Now that we are all caught up.. lets continue..Continue Reading

All The Eggs!!

August 6, 2018 by DanaeL 5 Comments

Since this was my 2nd time going through the egg growing/retrieval process, I was pretty confident I knew what to expect but boy was I wrong! My doctor explained that for the first round, the meds and procedures are based off of general stuff like age and weight. For the second round, they were able to tailor it more specifically to me. So they upped my meds significantly and apparently my body REALLY like that because it responded more than my doctor was even expecting. This was a really good thing.. at first..

At every ultrasound they count the follicles/eggs that are growing and it wasn’t long before the count started hitting the high 20s. Next thing I knew, they were counting 35+ which is amazing because the first time, we barely got 25. πŸ™‚ Along with every other day ultrasounds, they had to monitor my hormone levels which was why I had to get blood drawn every other day as well. πŸ’‰ Just to give you a comparison,Continue Reading

IVF Round #2!

July 25, 2018 by DanaeL 1 Comment

Soooooo guess who passed her blood test like a champ?!?!? That’s right.. ME!! Woohoo!!! We are full steam ahead for IVF round #2! πŸ˜„ But before I jump into all the things that start today, I have a quick side story about my blood work..Β Everyone at this point should know who Cody is. If you don’t, you can read the post where I quickly introduced him here –> Cody!

Okay.. so I usually take Cody with me to all my appointments especially if I am going by myself. Since Cliff wasn’t home on blood work day, Cody loaded up in my purse and we went to get stabbed in the arm. You know, typical Thursday.. Continue Reading

Surgery #4 here I come..

March 30, 2018 by DanaeL Leave a Comment

Yes you read that correctly.. yours truly will be having her 4th surgery next week.Β βˆ—sighβˆ— I’m still in a little bit of disbelief right now. But how did we get to this point? Lets go back and start the story from right after retrieval day..

(insert 90s sitcom flashback music πŸ˜› )

After egg retrieval and the freezing of our potential offspring, they told me I should start feeling better in a few days as my hormone levels normalized. That sounded great! I was SO ready to go back to having normal human sized ovaries. Welllllll 4 days goes by andContinue Reading

Eggs and Special Men

March 15, 2018 by DanaeL 1 Comment

I have wanted to post an IVF update but decided to wait until I had a bunch to fill y’all in on.. Well its finally time and I have LOTS of pictures hooray! Remember that pic I posted on social media a little while ago when all of my IVF meds arrived?? In case you missed it, here it is again..

One of those is just a bag of needles… A BAG OF NEEDLES PEOPLE! As someone who hates needles, I have seen that bag show up in my nightmares numerous times. Anyways.. The first thing our doc needed for this IVF journey to baby Litherland was a sample of Cliff’s special men and a bunch of eggs from me. For Cliff, this required one visit to the doctors office where he gave them the special men while I, like a 10 yr old, giggled in the waiting room. πŸ˜› For my part, it was an entirely too complicated process because Continue Reading
